Is it appropriate for a boy and girl to get married when they are 6 years apart?

According to traditional Chinese concepts, men usually get married at an older age than women, and only when the man is older than the woman can the marriage be maintained successfully. However, many people have also heard the saying "A woman who is three years older than a man is a treasure", and believe that if the girl is three years older than the boy, she often has a good ability to help her husband prosper. So are men and women with a six-year age difference suitable for marriage?

So, how do we judge the good or bad of a marriage based on the Eight Characters? Marriage involves issues concerning both men and women. There are different opinions on the compatibility of men and women in marriage, and this makes it difficult for people to adapt. The most popular saying among the people is that a man and a woman should not get married if they have a six-year age difference. For example, there is a man who was born in 1950 and he finds a girlfriend who was born in 1956. The age difference between them is six years (it doesn't matter if they are six years older or six years younger). If his parents knew about it, most of them would object, saying that a six-year age difference between a man and a woman would cause conflict and that it is not appropriate for them to get married.

Where does this statement come from? Does it make sense?

1. In fact, this statement is derived from the principle that every sixth of the twelve Earthly Branches must counteract each other. For example, the Earthly Branch of 1950 is Yin, which belongs to Tiger and the Five Elements are Wood, while the Earthly Branch of 1956 is Shen, which belongs to Monkey and the Five Elements are Metal. When metal and wood meet, they are bound to counteract each other, and the same is true for (metal counteracts wood). Going back six years, the Earthly Branch of 1944 was also Shen Metal, so it is also metal and wood counteracting each other. This is due to the arrangement pattern of the twelve Earthly Branches.

2. But when we interpret the eight characters, we need to look at the overall coordination of the eight characters before we can discuss their mutual generation and mutual restraint. How can we easily judge good or bad luck based on the conflict of only one character in the year branch? This is obviously unfounded, but why has it been spread for such a long time? Firstly, the general public cannot delve into the dialectical theory of the five elements of the Eight Characters. In other words, not everyone knows how to tell fortunes. Secondly, there are a very small number of horoscopes, after analyzing the dialectical relationship between the five elements of the eight characters, if the year branch happens to be the only useful god of the day master, then this useful god is undoubtedly equal to the day master's life root. Therefore, this life root cannot be conflicted, and it will be injured if it is conflicted. Therefore, as long as in this special situation, if you find a spouse who is six years older or younger than you, the other person's year branch will conflict with your own year branch, which is equivalent to conflicting your own life root. This is indeed unfavorable.

Therefore, based on the above two situations, ordinary people, in order to be on the safe side, eliminate all possible factors that may lead to six conflicts, and thus spread the saying that a man and a woman cannot get married if they are six years apart in age. In fact, true marriage matching is a very complicated and detailed matter. There are many different opinions and types of information recorded in fortune-telling books, and it cannot be handled by one or two simple criteria.

Furthermore, fortune tellers in the past also used evil spirits to predict the fortune of marriage, such as widowhood, broken bone marrow, iron broom, six disasters, eight defeats, peach blossom, red beauty, mess, flying sky, great defeat, loneliness and other evil spirits to predict the fortune of marriage. These were all named after the relationship between one or two characters in the eight characters. For example, using the year branch in which a person was born and forcing the word month branch to match it without taking into account the overall coordination and gains and losses of fortune. This is to generalize a hundred things, to generalize a particular case, and it is illogical. It is unreliable and absurd, which can be seen at a glance.

But common people do not know much about numerology, and after being frightened by these unlearned fortune tellers, they will obediently listen to their instructions. Then the fortune tellers will take advantage of the situation and say they can help them change their fortune, choose an auspicious day, resolve problems, etc. They will ask for sky-high prices and use tricks to cheat people out of their money and sex. Once, the author passed by a fortune-telling stall on the street, and saw two women with country looks squatting in front of a fortune teller, listening to his long speeches with panic on their faces.

I also leaned in to listen, and surprisingly they didn't talk about the theory of the five elements in the eight characters, or what to like and what to avoid. They were all talking about what kind of bad luck and what kind of conflict there was. Then they taught them how to change their luck and resolve the problem. Then they started to offer sky-high prices. No wonder the reputation of fortune-telling has been declining and it has almost become a tool for defrauding money and sex.

One of the reasons why I write some articles on numerology is to let people have a correct preliminary understanding of the true knowledge of numerology, so as not to believe and blindly follow the nonsense of those bad apples. If one uses the eight characters of the year, month, day and hour as well as the five elements to judge a person's fortune, it is still not enough. How can one abandon the six characters of the day and hour and only consider the two characters of the year and month to determine good or bad fortune?
