What are the symptoms of knee rheumatism

What are the symptoms of knee rheumatism

People will develop various diseases as they age because the human body's organs gradually decline with age. So as organs change, people's immunity begins to decline, leading to diseases that we cannot predict. Rheumatism of the knee joint is a common disease among the elderly. Patients will feel unbearable pain. So what are the symptoms of rheumatism of the knee joint?

1. Pain

Joint pain is the primary symptom of rheumatoid arthritis. Pain may occur in joints throughout the body, but it is more common to affect large joints, such as the knees, ankles, shoulders, wrists, etc. Typical symptoms include symmetrical, migratory pain, accompanied by inflammatory manifestations of redness, swelling, and heat. Usually, the symptoms of acute inflammation last for 2 to 4 weeks to subside. After the symptoms of one joint subside, symptoms of another joint may reappear. Sometimes several joints may be affected at the same time. Joint symptoms are greatly affected by climate changes, and joint pain often occurs when the weather turns cold or before it rains. After the acute phase, no joint deformities remain, which is different from rheumatoid arthritis.

2. When muscle pain occurs, patients may experience symptoms such as muscle soreness, general fatigue, lack of appetite, and irritability.

3. Irregular fever: Before rheumatism occurs, there will be irregular fever, mostly mild to moderate fever, rapid pulse, sweating, and it is not proportional to the body temperature.

4. Skin and mucous membrane symptoms include subcutaneous nodules, annular erythema, etc., which are more common in children but rare in adults.

5. Chorea is only seen in children, more commonly in girls. Children first have mental symptoms such as restlessness, irritability, and irritability, followed by purposeless and rapid movements, frowning, pouting and other strange faces. The limbs may have unrhythmic alternating movements of extension and flexion, adduction and abduction, pronation and supination. It is more obvious when you are tired or excited, less severe when you rest or calm, and disappears during sleep.

6. Cardiac symptoms Since rheumatic fever mainly affects the joints and heart during its active phase, patients with rheumatic arthritis often suffer from myocarditis, endocarditis, pericarditis, etc. There are symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, and precordial pain.

complication

During the acute pain period of rheumatoid arthritis patients, long-term bed rest or taking hormones for too long may cause the patient's immune function to be weakened and cause some complications. The most common ones are as follows:

1. Pneumonia: Due to decreased immunity and bacterial infection, patients often suffer from pneumonia.

2. Urinary tract infection: If patients with rheumatoid arthritis do not pay attention to their daily lives or catch a cold, they are prone to urinary tract infection.

3. If patients with Cushing's syndrome use hormones for too long, they may develop Cushing's syndrome due to suppression of adrenal cortex function. Common symptoms include moon face, buffalo hump, and weight gain.

4. Oral ulcers: Patients with rheumatoid arthritis often develop oral ulcers after taking immunosuppressants. In addition, they may also experience adverse reactions such as nausea and vomiting, anorexia, rash, and loss of taste.

5. Because patients with infectious diseases have been suffering from the disease for too long and their immune function has declined, they are more susceptible to infection than normal people when certain infectious diseases are prevalent in society.
