Symptoms of delayed myelin development

Symptoms of delayed myelin development

Parents should pay attention to whether their children have symptoms of delayed brain myelination. Delayed brain development is a big blow to intelligence, which is mostly manifested in that the child appears to be more immature than his peers, and has a more stubborn and impulsive personality, is not good at communicating with others, and even often behaves aggressively towards others. The symptoms of delayed myelin development mostly appear when the child is two years old. Parents must take good care of their children and use medical methods to change them.

The harm of delayed myelination

1. Abnormal behavior

The abnormal behavior of children with cerebral hypoplasia is manifested as personality changes, such as stubbornness, hyperactivity, impulsivity, social withdrawal, compulsive behavior, aggressive behavior and even self-harm. Common compulsive behaviors in children with cerebral hypoplasia can be manifested at the age of 2. They actively perform repetitive inherent movements, such as checking, repeating sorting and arranging movements, repeated head movements and reaching hands, repeating words, anxiety and mechanical repetitive operation behaviors, and also have fear emotions.

In addition, it may also manifest as selective mutism, which is mainly characterized by refusal to contact and speak with others. This disease is related to differences in human temperament and biological susceptibility, and is often accompanied by anxiety, panic, fear of being noticed, worry about social discrimination and terror.

2. Understanding the damage

Children's cognitive functions involve many aspects such as learning ability, intelligence, memory and attention. Such as memory impairment, difficulty learning new things, remembering and concentrating. Cognitive impairment is one of the important factors affecting the quality of life of children. The cognitive function of children mainly depends on the degree of brain damage, and genetic and environmental factors also play a certain role; in addition, the emotions and behaviors of children can also affect the realization of learning potential.

3. Leading to multiple complications

Warning: Failure to promptly treat cerebral maldevelopment will lead to a variety of complications, seriously affecting the child's health and future life, study, and work. Complications caused by cerebral hypoplasia mainly include:

1. Epileptic seizures:

At least 10% to 40% of children experience epileptic seizures at different ages, with spastic quadriplegia, hemiplegia and monoplegia and mental retardation being more common, while athetoid and ataxia are rare.

2. Orofacial and dental dysfunction:

About 25% of children with cerebral palsy have sucking weakness.

Difficulty in swallowing and chewing, poor lip closure, frequent drooling, and some children suffer from caries or incomplete tooth development. These symptoms are more common in children with athetosis.

3. Emotional and behavioral disorders:

Most children with cerebral palsy have abnormal emotions or behaviors, which are related to impaired brain function. A large amount of experimental and clinical data show that when the brain's limbic system, especially the hippocampus, is damaged, it can cause emotional abnormalities in children. Children with the disease often show symptoms such as being crybaby, willful, stubborn, withdrawn, having a strange temper, being emotionally fragile, and easily excited. Some have a sense of happiness and emotional instability. Children with the athetoid type are more common.

How to treat developmental delay in children?

A. Treatment of physical developmental delay

1. Malnutrition is a key factor causing developmental delay. Parents should provide proper nutrition, make the diet more comprehensive and balanced, and cultivate good eating habits to promote children's appetite.

2. If it is caused by a systemic disease, the primary disease should be actively treated.

3. If the child has familial dwarfism, idiopathic dwarfism, or constitutional growth retardation, various conditioning measures should be taken to fully develop the growth potential, and growth hormone should be used as appropriate.

4. For developmental delay caused by congenital genetic and metabolic diseases, such as hyperthyroidism, pituitary dwarfism, congenital ovarian hypoplasia, etc., corresponding special treatments and symptomatic treatments can be carried out.

B. Treatment of language delay

Many children have language delays. Parents can do the following:

1. Parents should talk to their children more often, train them to imitate the pronunciation of adults, and encourage them to speak and express their needs in words.

2. You can give stimulation to encourage the child to speak, for example, when asking the child to call mom, if the child does not call mom, the mother should smile and nod. Finally, when the child calls mom, the mother should hug and kiss the child warmly. This will stimulate the child's interest and enthusiasm in speaking.

3. Let children have more contact with society and nature, instead of staying at home all day watching Xiyangyang and Bald Qiang. Contact with society and nature can broaden their horizons. With a broader vision, they will naturally have the desire to speak. Then, with language training, children's language ability will be well developed.

4. If the child's developmental delay is caused by mental factors, parents should improve the living environment and provide the child with mental comfort and daily care.
