Will you go blind if you have pterygium in your eyes?

If you find pterygium growing in your eyes, you must not take it lightly, because this situation will cause great damage to your eyes and even cause vision loss. But don't be too anxious. As long as you use surgical removal treatment in the early stage, there will not be too many sequelae in the future, so there is no possibility of blindness.

It refers to the hypertrophy of the gland that crosses the free edge of the third eyelid and protrudes out of the surface of the eyeball. As long as it does not grow onto the cornea, no treatment is required. If it grows onto the cornea and affects vision, surgical removal is the only way to treat this disease. However, this type of surgery is prone to recurrence.

The meat is usually removed surgically or minimally invasively.

Send to the pathology department promptly to determine the nature of the lesion. Endoscopic (gastroscopy, colonoscopy) polypectomy is a very effective measure to prevent polyps from becoming cancerous. The methods of endoscopic treatment of polyps include: high-frequency electrocoagulation and electroresection, high-frequency electrocautery, laser therapy, microwave therapy, injection removal, cryotherapy, etc.

Regarding follow-up examination after polypectomy, it is generally believed that for a single adenomatous polyp to be removed, a follow-up examination should be conducted once within the first year after surgery. If the examination is negative, a follow-up examination should be conducted every 3 years. If multiple adenomas are removed or adenomas are larger than 20 mm and accompanied by atypical hyperplasia, follow-up examinations should be conducted every 3 to 6 months. If the result is negative, the follow-up examination should be conducted once a year. If the result is negative for two consecutive times, the follow-up examination should be conducted once every 3 years. The follow-up examination period should be no less than 15 years.

Indications for laparoscopic cholecystectomy

1. Various types of gallstones with obvious clinical symptoms, such as simple chronic cholecystitis with stones, chronic atrophic cholecystitis with stones, full-type gallstones, chronic cholecystitis with stones, etc.

2. Gallbladder polypoid lesions.

3. For asymptomatic simple gallbladder stones, the following patients should be treated with LC: ① Ceramic gallbladder, because the incidence of gallbladder cancer is as high as 25%; ② Gallbladder stones larger than 3 cm should be actively treated even if there are no obvious symptoms, because the incidence of gallbladder cancer in patients with gallstones larger than 3 cm is significantly higher than that in patients with gallstones smaller than 3 cm; ② Asymptomatic gallbladder stones combined with gallbladder polyps.

4. For diabetic patients with gallstones, surgical treatment should be performed as soon as clinical symptoms appear. There is even a view that surgery should be performed even if there are no symptoms.

5. The incidence of gallstones in patients with portal hypertension due to cirrhosis is 4-5 times higher than that in normal people. Although cirrhosis is not a contraindication for LC, LC surgery is difficult because there are abundant blood vessels around the gallbladder and in the gallbladder triangle due to portal hypertension, which are prone to bleeding and adhesion. Therefore, this surgery should be performed with caution.
