(1) Damp-heat syndrome: more common in acute eczema. Symptoms include redness of the skin, the appearance of papules, or millet-sized red rashes, blisters on the top, itching, water oozing out after scratching, and the rashes becoming patches and scabs, accompanied by dry mouth, less drinking, yellow urine, yellow and greasy tongue coating, red tongue, and slippery and rapid pulse. Treatment should be to clear away heat and dampness, and can be selected from the following prescriptions:

① 6-10g of Scutellaria baicalensis, 10g of Phellodendron chinense, 10g of Atractylodes lancea, 12g of Sophora flavescens, 15g of Plantago, and 10g of Poria. Decoction in water.

② 15-20 grams of wild yam, 30 grams of coix seed, 10 grams of akebia, 20 grams of dandelion, and 3 grams of licorice, decocted in water and taken orally.

③ 50 grams of Sophora flavescens, 30 grams of Cnidium monnieri, and 15 grams of Xanthium sibiricum, decoct in water and use the liquid to wash the affected area.

④ 10g of Coptis chinensis, 10g of Scutellaria baicalensis, 10g of calcined gypsum, 12g of calcined calamus, and 0.5g of borneol, grind them into fine powder and mix them for later use. If the skin is eroded and oozing, sprinkle the powder on the affected area. If there is not much oozing or the skin is not broken and not oozing, mix it with sesame oil and apply it externally.

⑤ Boil 100 grams of fresh verbena in water to obtain the medicinal liquid, let it cool and then wash the affected area.

⑥ Boil 200 grams of fresh purslane in water and apply the liquid to the affected area. It is used for skin erosion and yellow discharge.

(2) Mixed deficiency and excess syndrome: It is mostly caused by blood deficiency, spleen weakness, and dampness and heat, which is seen in chronic eczema. The symptoms of this syndrome are eczema that does not heal over time, the skin becomes rough and thick, yellow fluid oozes out when scratched, the skin of the affected area is dark in color, the body is tired and weak, the tongue is greasy, the tongue is pale, tender and plump, and the pulse is slow. Treatment should be aimed at strengthening the spleen and nourishing the blood, and clearing away the pathogens. You can choose:

① 10g Atractylodes, 15g Poria, 10g Angelica, 15g Salvia miltiorrhiza, 10g White Peony Root, 15g Rehmannia glutinosa, 15g Kochia scoparia, 30g Coix seeds, decocted in water and taken orally.
