Chinese patent medicine for nourishing yin and moistening dryness

Many women suffer from excessive liver fire, which makes them prone to getting inflamed and endocrine disorders, which is extremely detrimental to their health. If women have spleen and stomach discomfort, they often also have symptoms such as dry skin and depressed mood. These all need to be adjusted, and many Chinese medicines can have a regulating effect. So, what are the Chinese patent medicines that nourish yin and moisten dryness?

1. Traditional Chinese medicine for nourishing yin and moistening dryness --- Ophiopogon japonicus

Ophiopogon japonicus has the effects of nourishing yin and moistening the lungs, benefiting the stomach and producing body fluids, clearing the heart and relieving restlessness. It is often used for dry cough due to lung dryness, cough due to consumptive tuberculosis, thirst due to loss of body fluid, restlessness and insomnia, and constipation due to dry intestines. However, due to its slightly cold nature, it is not suitable for people with diarrhea, phlegm and fluid caused by spleen deficiency, or obvious qi deficiency, and it should not be taken in excess.

Dietary recipe: Steamed duck with Ophiopogon japonicus

Ingredients: 25 grams of Ophiopogon japonicus, 1 duckling, 10 grams of cooking wine, 5 grams of salt, 10 grams of soy sauce, 3 grams of MSG, 3 grams of pepper, 5 grams of ginger, and 10 grams of green onion.

Preparation method: Wash the Ophiopogon japonicus with clean water, soak it for 24 hours, take it out and flatten it, remove the inner stalks, slaughter the duck, remove the hair, internal organs and claws; cut the ginger into pieces and cut the green onion into flowers. Place Ophiopogon japonicus into duck's belly, place in a steamer over high heat, and steam for 55 minutes.

2. Chinese medicine for nourishing yin and moistening dryness --- Polygonatum odoratum

Polygonatum odoratum has the effects of nourishing yin, moistening dryness, promoting body fluid and quenching thirst. It is suitable for lung and stomach yin damage, dry heat cough, dry throat and thirst, dull pain in the stomach, and dry and hard stool. It is suitable for those with dry cough but little phlegm, or dry mouth and throat, to nourish yin, clear heat, promote body fluid and quench thirst. It is not suitable for people with weak spleen and stomach, excessive and thin phlegm, cold stomach and diarrhea. Polygonatum odoratum is often used in combination with other medicinal materials such as Adenophora stellaria and Ophiopogon japonicus.

Dietary therapy: Polygonatum odoratum and Tremella fuciformis soup

Ingredients: Take 10 grams each of fresh polygonatum, rock sugar and white fungus.

Preparation method: Wash and slice the Polygonatum odoratum, pick and clean the Tremella fuciformis after soaking it, add appropriate amount of clean water and stew until the Tremella fuciformis is cooked, then add rock sugar.

Efficacy: Nourishes yin and clears away heat. It is suitable for symptoms such as dry mouth, thirst, dull pain in the stomach, and dry and hard stool caused by insufficient stomach yin.

3. Lily, a traditional Chinese medicine that nourishes yin and moistens dryness

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that lily is sweet, slightly cold, and can moisten the lungs, relieve coughs, clear the heart and calm the mind. Lily porridge is the most commonly used remedy for fighting dryness. Take 30 grams of lily (wash and chop), 50 grams of glutinous rice, add 400 ml of water, cook until the rice is rotten and the soup is thick, add appropriate amount of rock sugar, and take it warm in the morning and evening.

This porridge not only has the effect of moistening the lungs and relieving coughs, but also can calm the mind and soothe the nerves. It is suitable for those who suffer from autumn dryness accompanied by insomnia and dreaminess. For those with red tongue, irritability and nosebleed, 30 grams of lotus seeds can be added when cooking porridge.

4. Dendrobium officinale, a traditional Chinese medicine that nourishes yin and moistens dryness

Dendrobium is sweet and slightly cold. It can nourish the stomach and produce body fluid, nourish yin and eliminate heat, improve eyesight and remove cataracts. It is especially suitable for people with autumn dryness accompanied by myopia, hyperopia, and mild cataracts. You can take an appropriate amount of Dendrobium (6-12 grams) and Chrysanthemum and boil them together as tea, which has a good effect of improving eyesight and moisturizing dryness. Because the active ingredients in Dendrobium can only work after long-term boiling, the Dendrobium should be boiled for 30 minutes first, and then the chrysanthemum should be added and boiled for 5-10 minutes.

Chinese medicine prescription for nourishing yin and moistening dryness

Yangyin Qingzao Decoction is the name of a Chinese medicine prescription. From "Yu Yao Xubian". It has the effect of nourishing yin and moistening dryness. It is mainly used to treat lung and kidney yin deficiency, dryness caused by sore throat, white ulcers in the throat, white sores in the mouth and tongue, and oral erosions and lip sores.

Ingredients: 1 qian (3g) of Rehmannia glutinosa, 1 qian (3g) of Ophiopogon japonicus, 8 fen (2.4g) of Fritillaria cirrhosa, 8 fen (2.4g) of Cortex Moutan, 1 qian (3g) of Scrophularia ningpoensis, 3 fen (2.4g) of Mentha suspensa, and 5 fen (1.5g) of Raw Licorice.

Dosage and Administration: Boil in water for 1.5 hours until 50% to 60% cooked, then drink while warm.

Function: Nourishing yin and moistening dryness.

Indications: Lung and kidney yin deficiency, dryness caused by sore throat, white ulcers in the throat, white sores in the mouth and tongue, and oral erosions and lip sores.

Meaning of the prescription: In the prescription, the Rehmannia root is sweet and cold and nourishes kidney yin, while the Ophiopogon japonicus is sweet and cold and nourishes lung yin. These two herbs are the main ingredients to treat the root cause of lung and kidney yin deficiency. Fritillaria cirrhosa moistens the lungs and resolves phlegm, Cortex Moutan cools blood and reduces swelling, and Scrophularia ningpoensis clears away internal heat, cools blood and detoxifies. Together they are adjuvant drugs to treat symptoms of yin deficiency, internal heat, burning body fluids and damaging blood. The throat is connected to the lungs, and the kidney meridian is connected to the throat and the base of the tongue, so a small amount of mint should be added to dispel evil and benefit the throat. Raw licorice and medicine are used to detoxify. The whole formula nourishes kidney yin, reduces swelling and relieves sore throat, and slightly disperses external evil. It is indeed effective for oral erosion caused by lung yin deficiency and combined with warm and dry evil.
