Is it okay to brush your teeth with hot water?

When brushing teeth, people will definitely use water. The temperature of water is different. There is hot water, warm water and cold water. Different people like to brush their teeth with water at different temperatures. But in fact, if you want to achieve good teeth cleaning results, water temperature is also very important. If the water temperature is not appropriate, then brushing your teeth is in vain. So, is it good to brush your teeth with hot water? This will be introduced below!

1. Is it good to brush your teeth with hot water?

Studies have shown that the most suitable temperature for human teeth is between 35°C and 37°C. Within this temperature range, oral cells have the most stable and normal metabolic activity. Moreover, the stain removal ingredients in toothpaste are most active in this temperature range and can achieve the best stain removal effect.

The lower the temperature is or the higher it is, the lower the activity of oral cells will be. And if the temperature is too low, the teeth themselves will feel a strong cold stimulation, especially when suddenly exposed to low-temperature water, the capillaries in the gums will burst due to rapid contraction, causing bleeding gums.

2. What kind of water is good for brushing teeth?

Warm water is the best. Scientists believe through research that brushing your teeth with warm water is good for dental health. On the contrary, if you brush your teeth with cold water for a long time, your teeth will become old even though you are not old. A survey by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan shows that the lifespan of teeth is on average more than 10 years shorter than that of humans, and the root cause lies in the group habit of "brushing teeth with cold water". Practice has also proved that warm water at about 35℃ is a benign oral protectant. Rinsing your mouth with such water is good for your teeth, throat and tongue, and helps remove bacteria and food debris in the mouth, giving you a refreshing and comfortable taste.

3. Disadvantages of brushing teeth with cold water

In terms of the stain removal ability of toothpaste, toothpaste in cold water cannot work well, just like detergent cannot remove stains well in cold water. The activity of the stain removal biochemical components in toothpaste will be greatly reduced in cold water. If this continues for a long time, the teeth will develop health problems such as yellow teeth and caries due to not being well cleaned.
