What does full abdominal B-ultrasound check

For people who do not have professional knowledge, even if they often hear about B-ultrasound as a detection technology, they still do not have a particularly good understanding of it. Because B-ultrasound can be divided into local B-ultrasound and whole abdominal B-ultrasound, and local B-ultrasound is mainly performed on pregnant women, because pregnant women mainly check the condition of the baby in the uterus. But if a person undergoes a full abdominal B-ultrasound, what kind of physical condition is being examined?

Abdominal B-ultrasound can detect changes in the size and shape of organs such as the liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, bladder, and prostate. It can also determine whether these organs are in their normal positions and whether they are compressed by surrounding tumors or organs.

At the same time, it can accurately determine the location of the tumor in the abdominal cavity and its relationship with the surrounding organs. It can accurately distinguish whether the tumor is solid or fluid-containing cysts, hematomas, abscesses, etc. It can also distinguish whether the tumor is benign or malignant.

Abdominal B-ultrasound can also accurately determine whether there is ascites in the abdominal cavity. Even a small amount of ascites can be detected by B-ultrasound.

It can detect enlarged lymph nodes larger than 1 cm in the abdominal and pelvic cavities, observe the contraction of the gallbladder, and make a judgment on the gallbladder function.

It is worth mentioning that B-ultrasound can also diagnose gallbladder and bile duct or urinary system stones, differentiate the nature of jaundice, and solid and cystic tumors.

Differences between abdominal and vaginal ultrasound

1. Whether it is vaginal ultrasound or abdominal ultrasound, it can be checked after having a baby. Vaginal ultrasound is used during early and late pregnancy. It is usually used to observe the follicles, endometrium, lower uterine segment, cervical placenta position, etc., and is also used to check whether the abdominal wall is thickened. Abdominal ultrasound is mainly used in the middle and late stages of pregnancy, and is also used for those with large uterine and pelvic tumors to detect the relationship between the uterine appendages and surrounding organs.

2. Vaginal ultrasound can detect pelvic fluid effusion. Vaginal B-ultrasound is an ultrasound method in which the probe is inserted into the vagina to explore the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and pelvic cavity. It is also a type of ultrasound, but the probe reaches a different part. Therefore, compared with abdominal B-ultrasound, it has the advantages of not having to hold urine, high resolution, and less interference from abdominal intestinal gas. Generally, the diagnostic value of vaginal ultrasound is greater than that of abdominal B-ultrasound, but abdominal B-ultrasound will be used only when some tumors are too large to be observed through the vagina. In addition, the power of vaginal ultrasound is slightly greater than that of abdominal ultrasound, so vaginal ultrasound is not recommended within the first three months of pregnancy.

Which is better, abdominal B-ultrasound or vaginal B-ultrasound?

Both methods are examination methods for gynecological pelvic diseases of the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. In layman's terms, one looks from above and the other from below. Each has its advantages, and most of the time, vaginal ultrasound is better. In addition, transvaginal ultrasound is not suitable for women who have not had sexual intercourse.
