What are the clinical symptoms of uterine cancer?

In recent years, uterine cancer has become a major disease that endangers human life. It has brought great pain and distress to humans. Experts say that due to the different locations and ranges of the lesions, the symptoms of uterine cancer vary. Early cervical cancer usually has mild symptoms, recent expert research has found. It is not easy to detect, and contact bleeding occasionally occurs after sexual intercourse or gynecological examination. It is no different from chronic cervicitis. Sometimes the cervix is even smooth, especially in elderly women whose cervix has atrophied. Some patients with endocervical cancer have lesions located in the endocervical canal, and the appearance of the cervix in the vagina is normal, which is easily overlooked and missed or misdiagnosed. Once the symptoms of uterine cancer appear, most of them have reached the middle and late stages. The following experts introduce the clinical symptoms of uterine cancer:

1. Vaginal bleeding: Vaginal bleeding is often caused by rupture of tumor blood vessels. Irregular vaginal bleeding is the main symptom of cervical cancer patients (80%-85%). Especially vaginal bleeding after menopause should be paid more attention. The amount of vaginal bleeding can be more or less. In particular, cauliflower-type tumors have bleeding symptoms earlier and the amount is larger. If bleeding occurs frequently, excessive blood loss can lead to severe anemia. In late cases, vaginal bleeding may cause shock, which is more common in invasive tumors.

2. Pain: Invasion of the pelvic wall, a symptom of advanced cervical cancer. The tumor extends along the adjacent tissues and compresses the peripheral nerves, clinically manifested as continuous pain in the sciatic nerve or one side of the sacral or iliac region. The tumor compresses or erodes the ureter, causing narrowing and obstruction of the ureter, leading to hydronephrosis, manifested as one side of the waist pain, or even severe pain, which further develops into renal failure, resulting in invasion of the uremic lymphatic system, leading to obstruction of the lymphatic vessels, and obstruction of reflux, resulting in symptoms such as lower limb edema and pain.

3. Systemic symptoms: Fever caused by absorption of necrotic tissue or combined infection. In advanced patients, the body temperature is generally around 38°C, and a few can reach above 39°C. Anemia, weight loss, and even cachexia may occur due to bleeding and consumption.

4. Other symptoms: Patients experience frequent urination, urgent urination, painful urination, prolapse and hematuria. The cancer may spread forward and invade the bladder. It is often misdiagnosed as a urinary tract infection and the diagnosis is delayed. In severe cases, a bladder-vaginal fistula may form. The cancer may spread backward and invade the rectum, causing symptoms such as prolapse, difficulty in defecation, tenesmus, and blood in the stool. Further development may lead to a vaginal-rectal fistula. Distant metastasis may occur in the late stage of the disease. The symptoms vary depending on the site of metastasis. The most common metastasis is supraclavicular lymph node metastasis, where nodules or lumps appear. Cancer infiltration can spread to distant organs through the blood vessels or lymphatic system, resulting in metastatic lesions in the corresponding parts and their corresponding symptoms.

5. Increased vaginal discharge: As the tumor grows, it is also the main symptom of cervical cancer patients. It often occurs before vaginal bleeding. Initially, vaginal discharge may not have any odor. If the tumor is infected or necrotic, the discharge will increase, such as rice washing water or mixed with blood, and have a foul odor. When the tumor spreads upward and involves the endometrium, the discharge is blocked by the cervical cancer tissue and cannot be discharged, which may form uterine cavity effusion or uterine cavity pyometra. The patient may experience symptoms such as lower abdominal discomfort, lower abdominal pain, back pain and fever.
