Understand the spread of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and effectively control the disease

Cancer is not only a difficult disease to cure, but its biggest characteristic is that it can cause cancer cells to spread and induce cancer in other parts of the body. Although the spread of nasopharyngeal cancer is uncommon, patients must be aware of this so that they can keep track of their condition in a timely manner.

The spread of nasopharyngeal carcinoma can be divided into two aspects. First, the spread of nasopharyngeal carcinoma invades the skull base and then the skull, causing bone destruction and cranial nerve invasion or compression, with the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth cranial nerves being the most common. Secondly, if the spread of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is extracranial, it will directly invade adjacent cavities and sinuses such as the nasopharynx, oropharynx, parapharyngeal tissue, pterygopalatine fossa, and even invade the eye socket. The metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is generally lymphatic metastasis, which can reach the deep cervical lymph nodes, middle cervical, subcervical, and supraclavicular lymph nodes.

Patients with early-stage nasopharyngeal carcinoma are generally asymptomatic, except for a very small number of patients who occasionally have tinnitus and blood in their noses. Symptoms and signs of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients include nasal congestion, blood in their noses, otitis media, tinnitus, decreased vision, eye abduction disorder, diplopia, migraine, toothache, fever, hoarseness, cervical lymphadenopathy, and corresponding symptoms caused by distant metastasis.

The above is the relevant knowledge about the spread of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. We hope that patients can understand the spread of rhinitis, conduct effective physical examinations, increase vigilance against spread, and protect their own health.
