Why are there more and more lung cancer patients

According to data, in the past 20 years, the incidence of lung cancer in my country has increased rapidly, and it has become the leading cause of death among male malignant tumors, and also among the highest among females. From 1975 to the early 1990s, the incidence of lung cancer in males in my country increased by 120.9%, and that in females by 90.4%; in 2005, it was estimated that there were 285,000 male lung cancer patients and 143,000 female lung cancer patients in my country.

So, why are there more and more lung cancer patients? There are three main reasons:

1. The number of smokers increases year by year

Statistics show that 9 out of 10 people who died of lung cancer were smokers. Surveys show that in 2002, smokers aged 15 and above accounted for 35.8% of the total population in my country, and the total number accounted for 1/3 of the world's total number. This has directly led to the continuous increase in the incidence of lung cancer.

2. Lifestyle

For example, in high-altitude mountainous areas, residents use smoky coal for heating, which leads to serious indoor air pollution. The incidence of lung cancer among local people, especially housewives, is alarming. In addition, the large amount of fumes produced when cooking may increase the incidence of lung cancer. Lung diseases, as well as internal factors such as immunity and genetics, are also direct causes of lung cancer.

3. Environmental pollution

Epidemiological surveys show that the incidence of lung cancer is higher in industrially developed and heavily polluted areas than in industrially underdeveloped areas, and higher in cities than in rural areas. This has a lot to do with the exhaust gas emitted by industry and automobiles.
