What are the auxiliary diagnostic methods for lymphoma

Although lymphoma has some clinical manifestations, it must be confirmed in conjunction with other auxiliary diagnoses. The main diagnostic methods include pathological examination, imaging examination and laboratory examination.

Pathological examination

In general, lymphoma can be confirmed by pathological examination. Complete lymph nodes are taken for examination through surgery. Pathological examination should be performed as soon as possible for special patients, such as those with no clear cause of swollen lymph nodes; those with swollen lymph nodes that are ineffective after regular treatment; those with swollen lymph nodes and repeated fever; those with unexplained long-term fever or periodic low fever. And when taking a biopsy, you should pay attention to the following: choose a firm and plump lymph node, preferably in the neck or armpit; try to avoid squeezing during the operation; fix it as soon as possible after taking it out; and take several from different parts if necessary.

Imaging tests

X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, gastrointestinal angiography and other methods can be selected according to the patient's condition. These methods are of great significance in understanding the location and degree of tumor invasion, clinical staging, formulating treatment plans, judging prognosis, and dynamically observing treatment effects. In addition, radionuclide gallium scanning can play a role in distinguishing post-treatment fibrosis and disease recurrence rate.

Laboratory tests

Laboratory tests mainly include routine blood tests, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, blood biochemistry, etc. These tests can be used to understand the condition of the disease, judge the body condition and the prognosis. For example, the most important biochemical test is lactate dehydrogenase. Elevated lactate dehydrogenase means a poor prognosis.
