Traditional Chinese Medicine's Understanding and Treatment of Eczematoid Carcinoma

Skin eczematoid carcinoma, also known as Paget's disease, can be divided into breast Paget's disease and extramammary Paget's disease. Western medicine's understanding of its cause is still not very clear. It is generally believed that it is a carcinoma in situ originating from the openings of the mammary ducts and apocrine sweat glands, and from there it spreads to the hypopharyngeal mammary ducts and glandular epithelium, eventually invading the connective tissue, and then spreading upward into the epidermis to form typical skin lesions.

Traditional Chinese medicine calls this disease "breast malnutrition", which is mostly caused by liver stagnation and external dampness and poison. Symptoms include itchy skin around the nipple, occasional discharge of water, yellow-brown scabs after drying, and sunken nipples that are hard to touch. If it occurs in the genitals, it can spread to the inner thighs and buttocks, and can also affect the scrotum, labia, armpits, etc. It is self-consciously itchy, numb, tingling, stringy and rapid pulse, red tongue, and white fur. The treatment is mainly to soothe the liver and relieve depression, and to promote dampness and detoxification. The first choice of prescription is Xiaoyao Powder plus or minus, and the basic composition of the prescription is Bupleurum, Angelica, Red Peony Root, Peony Root, Gentian, White Flower Hedyotis Diffusa, Lithospermum, Scutellaria, Prunella Vulgaris, Smilax glabra, Luffa, and Lilium. Among them, Bupleurum, Angelica, Red Peony Root and White Peony Root are the main medicines used in Xiaoyao Powder, which is the main prescription for soothing the liver and relieving depression. It is combined with bitter and cold medicines such as Gentiana, Houttuynia Cordata, Scutellaria, Prunella Vulgaris, Smilax glabra, and Lilium wilfordii to relieve the dampness and toxicity that are stagnant in the liver meridian.
