Which stomach diseases are likely to develop into stomach cancer

Don’t take stomach problems lightly anymore. Data confirms that at least four benign stomach diseases can develop into stomach cancer. Here are the four stomach diseases in detail:

1. Gastric ulcer: There are different opinions on the canceration of gastric ulcer. Most people believe that it may become cancerous, but the canceration rate is not high, about less than 1%.

2. Chronic gastritis: Chronic atrophic gastritis can also develop into gastric cancer, with a canceration rate of 0-10%, and about 2% in my country. Factors related to atrophic gastritis and canceration: Lesion location: the canceration rate of antral gastritis is higher than that of gastric body gastritis, the former can reach 10%; intestinal metaplasia: the canceration rate of chronic gastritis with intestinal glandular metaplasia is four times higher than that of those without intestinal metaplasia; dysplasia: severe dysplasia can evolve into gastric cancer.

3. Gastric polyps: Gastric polyps are histologically divided into two categories, namely hyperplastic polyps and adenomatous polyps, the latter of which can develop into adenocarcinoma.

4. Remnant stomach: As partial gastrectomy is widely performed, the incidence of remnant stomach cancer has also increased, especially for Billroth-Ⅱ surgery. The remnant stomach after gastrectomy can become cancerous, but it usually takes more than 10 years. The possible causes are: bile and pancreatic juice reflux, atrophic gastritis in the remnant stomach, decreased gastric acid, abnormal growth of bacteria in the stomach, which converts secondary ammonia or nitrite into nitrosamines and induces cancer.
