Late symptoms of laryngeal cancer

1. Difficulty in breathing Due to the deterioration and increase in size of the tumor at the primary site, it will directly block the trachea and affect breathing or make the tracheal secretions difficult to discharge, resulting in difficulty in breathing

2. Hoarseness. Most laryngeal cancers originate in the patient's vocal cords. Even very small tumors can cause abnormal vibration of the vocal cords and cause hoarseness. If you find unexplained hoarseness and the symptoms persist for three weeks without gradually improving, you should go to the hospital for timely examination.

3. Inner ear pain. When laryngeal cancer develops to a certain extent, ulcers and severe inflammation will occur in the throat, which can cause reflex pain in the nerves. Early laryngeal cancer will not cause reflex pain. Reflex pain mainly occurs in patients with advanced supraglottic laryngeal cancer.

4. Blood in sputum. Because there are a large number of abnormal new blood vessels in the tumor, patients may find blood in their mucus or sputum after coughing. This is mainly seen in patients with advanced laryngeal cancer.

5. Pain in swallowing Once the tumor develops to the late stage, it will cause a foreign body sensation in the throat or pain in swallowing. This type of symptom is often not obvious at the beginning of the disease, so patients and doctors need to be vigilant.
