Dermatoscope helps to diagnose skin cancer

Dermatoscope is a non-invasive examination item that has emerged in recent years. It is a digital image analysis technology used to observe morphological features and digital image analysis technology on the surface of human skin and below the epidermis that cannot be identified by the naked eye. It has the advantages of being non-invasive to the body, easy to operate, and able to provide auxiliary diagnostic reports after on-site real-time examination. Therefore, it is widely used in the diagnosis of skin cancer and other skin diseases.

Dermatoscope is mainly used for the diagnosis of pigmented skin lesions and non-pigmented skin lesions and their related skin tumors, such as the classification of nevus cell nevi, malignant transformation of pigmented nevi, malignant melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, seborrheic keratosis, solar keratosis, Bowen's disease, dermatofibroma, hemangioma and hemangioma-related birthmarks and other pigmented lesions that are difficult to distinguish from melanoma clinically, such as the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of longitudinal melanonychia and subungual hemorrhage.

Dermoscopic image analysis technology can reduce the probability of trauma caused by blind surgical resection or biopsy. It can also effectively guide the scope of surgical resection, postoperative follow-up, selection of reasonable physical therapy methods, and dynamic monitoring of the course of skin lesions and suspicious lesions in high-risk groups, etc., all of which are of great clinical significance.

In addition, dermatoscopy is also important for the diagnosis of lichen planus, flat warts, molluscum contagiosum, acariasis, melanosis, psoriasis, dermatomyositis, purpura and urticarial vasculitis, especially for the early diagnosis of vitiligo.
