There are many methods for voice reconstruction after total laryngectomy in patients with laryngeal cancer , which can be summarized into three categories: (1) Voice reconstruction after total laryngectomy forms a channel between the trachea and the esophagus or hypopharynx, allowing the exhaled airflow to pass through this channel into the esophagus or hypopharynx, vibrating the hypopharyngeal mucosa to produce sound and restore language ability. (2) Artificial pronunciation devices use mechanical or electronic devices to enable patients to acquire language skills. (3) After special training, people without larynx can inhale a certain amount of air into the esophagus, then expel the air from the esophagus like burping, vibrating the pharyngeal mucosa to produce sound. |
