Auxiliary examination methods for pancreatic cancer

In clinical practice, once entering the hospital, the doctor will write a list of blood tests for the patient to do. In addition to B-ultrasound, CT examination is also indispensable for pancreatic cancer patients. CT examination helps doctors to have a more comprehensive understanding of the scope of the lesion, so don't have too many doubts. The examinations the doctor asks you to do must be necessary.

CT examination is the main examination for the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer

Because the pancreas is located deep inside, B-ultrasound examination is not effective. However, CT is a tomography device. Compared with the normal pancreas, pancreatic cancer masses often show a local decrease in density on CT, with regular or irregular enhancement at the edges. On the contrary, the normal pancreas has obvious enhancement and uniform density, and the tumor outline and shape are more clearly displayed. In this way, pancreatic cancer masses are easy to detect.

At present, the accuracy rate of CT in diagnosing pancreatic cancer can reach more than 80%. It can detect pancreatic and biliary tract dilatation and tumors in any part of the pancreas with a diameter of more than 1 cm. It can also detect retroperitoneal lymph node metastasis, intrahepatic metastasis, and observe whether there is retroperitoneal cancer infiltration, so that doctors can better understand the patient's condition. However, this examination also has certain limitations. For example, if you want to have a more comprehensive understanding of systemic metastasis, you have to do CT scans of multiple parts, and the patient's body cannot withstand too much radiation.

PET-CT is a more powerful examination than CT. It has both PET and CT functions. In addition to improved accuracy, its biggest advantage over CT is that all metastatic lesions can be detected in one scan, rather than requiring multiple CT scans. Patients do not need to be exposed to too much radiation, and the examination process is also very convenient. All problems can be solved in one comfortable examination.
