Is pancreatic cancer hereditary?

Is pancreatic cancer hereditary?

As we all know, pancreatic cancer is the "king of cancers", with a one-year survival rate of 8% and a five-year survival rate of 3%. In my country, the five-year survival rate of pancreatic cancer patients is less than 1%. Many people can't help but worry whether their next generation will suffer from such a terrible disease after they have cancer. So, is pancreatic cancer hereditary? The answer is yes.

Is pancreatic cancer hereditary?

1. Pancreatic cancer has a certain genetic tendency, but it is not 100% inherited. On the contrary, the inheritance probability of this disease is very small. For most pancreatic cancer patients, there is basically no family history of the disease, so it can be inferred that the probability of inheritance is not very high.

2. In addition to genetic factors, pancreatic cancer also has a lot of acquired factors. For example, frequent smoking and drinking, irregular meals, and living in places with serious car exhaust emissions and frequently absorbing toxic gases can all lead to pancreatic cancer.

3. Finally, if there is a pancreatic cancer patient in your family and someone in the family has the habit of smoking, it will aggravate the occurrence of pancreatic cancer. Therefore, if there are two situations in the family, it is best to solve them in time. For pancreatic cancer patients, ginsenosides can be used for treatment in normal times.

Note: Cancer has a genetic tendency, but not everyone will develop it. For some common cancers such as colorectal cancer, breast cancer and skin cancer, the medical community has mastered the relevant genetic information and can use blood tests to test the genes and then determine the probability of the patient's family members developing cancer.
