My butt has been hurting since the injection

Colds and flu are common diseases. Sometimes, for treatment purposes, injections are given in the buttocks. Different people react differently. Generally, you will feel better after a short rest. Some people will feel pain for a long time after the injection. This may be directly related to the patient himself. If the patient is nervous, the muscles in the buttocks will contract, making it more difficult to insert the needle and more painful.

Tip 1: Hot compress

Method: Fold a towel or gauze into a square, soak it in hot water at about 60℃, take it out, wring it dry and cover the indurated area. Replace it after the temperature dissipates. Do it twice a day, half an hour each time, for 7 to 10 days. You can also use a hot water bottle for continuous hot compress (wrap it with a large towel to prevent burns).

This method is very effective in eliminating intramuscular nodules, but you must grasp the timing of hot compress. The baby's buttocks muscles are underdeveloped, and the medicine is difficult to be fully absorbed in a short period of time. If hot compress is applied right after the injection, it will not only fail to promote drug absorption, but also cause the risk of inducing needle hole infection, because the needle hole will slowly close after 1 hour. Therefore, it is important to remember that you must wait 2 hours after your baby's injection before applying hot compress. If the nodule has been formed for a long time, hot compress is useless, so it must be discovered and treated in time.

Tip 2: Potato method

Method: Choose fresh potatoes, wash them and cut them into 1.5-2 cm thin slices, cover the nodules with them for 30-60 minutes, 4-5 times a day. If the area is large and the symptoms are severe, you can use the mashed potato patch method, that is, grind fresh potatoes into mash, wrap them with gauze, and apply them to the affected area. The shape and size should be determined according to the size of the lump.

Kind reminder: To promote local blood circulation, you can first heat the potato slices with hot water for 1 to 2 minutes, but not too long.

Prevention of intramuscular injection nodules is the key

1. Choose the injection site correctly.

The best place to insert the needle is the upper 1/4 of the baby's buttocks, as this area is rich in muscle and has no large blood vessels or nerves passing through it.

It is a relatively safe injection site.

2. After the injection, you can only use your fingers to press the cotton ball to stop the bleeding, do not rub it!

It is inevitable that small blood vessels will be injured during injection, and bleeding can only be stopped by compressing the blood vessels. Some people like to press the cotton ball with their fingers and rub it constantly. This may have a soothing and analgesic effect, but it cannot achieve the purpose of compressing and stopping bleeding.

3. The injection site for oily drugs should be deep, and they should be avoided as much as possible if possible.

4. If the injection amount is too much, it can be divided into two sides for injection

Don’t be afraid of your baby’s pain. Small doses are easier to absorb and less likely to form nodules, which can reduce more pain for your baby.

5. Inject both sides of the buttocks alternately. Do not inject repeatedly in the same area.
