Does gallbladder cancer affect sleep?

The gallbladder has the function of storing and concentrating bile, and plays an important role in the digestion and absorption of nutrients by the human body. However, patients with advanced gallbladder cancer who are in a more serious condition may need to undergo cholecystectomy, which may have many effects on the patient's body.

1. Diarrhea One of the important functions of the gallbladder is to excrete bile. When people eat on time, bile is regularly discharged into the intestines every day to help digest and absorb food, especially after eating a lot of greasy food. The role of bile is more obvious. When the gallbladder is removed, this regular function is lost, and the bile secreted by the liver cannot be stored to help gastrointestinal digestion. If too much fat is consumed, fat absorption will be impaired due to insufficient bile, resulting in diarrhea.

2. Intestinal cancer The continuous contraction of the gallbladder can discharge bile into the intestine smoothly to help digestion of food. Removal of the gallbladder may have adverse effects on the intestine.

The gallbladder is like a "reservoir" for storing bile. Most of the bile secreted by the liver is stored here. After the gallbladder is removed, the bile has nowhere to be stored and it is continuously discharged into the intestine. After the bile is decomposed by intestinal bacteria, it will produce "secondary bile acid" which is carcinogenic. If a large amount of bile accumulates in the intestine, these toxic carcinogens will contact the intestinal mucosa for a long time and cause cancer.

3. Reflux gastritis Some patients may develop bile reflux gastritis after cholecystectomy, and the patients may experience severe digestive discomfort, such as nausea, acid reflux, indigestion, etc. This is because bile continuously enters the intestines, and when the stomach is empty, there is a lack of gastric acid and food to neutralize it, and the bile is continuously stored in the duodenum and refluxes into the stomach. Bile causes great damage to the gastric mucosa, which can be treated with drugs.
