Can gallbladder cancer be cured in its early stages?

Can gallbladder cancer be cured in its early stages?

Gallbladder cancer refers to a malignant tumor that occurs in the gallbladder, accounting for 25% of extrahepatic bile duct tumors and 0.4 to 3.8% of all bile duct diseases. It is more common in women over 50 years old, with a male to female ratio of 1:3 to 4. Currently, medicine has not yet overcome the problem of gallbladder cancer, so it cannot be cured. However, this does not mean that having gallbladder cancer means death, because there is a possibility of long-term survival after active treatment in the early stage of the disease.

Can early-stage gallbladder cancer be cured? Generally speaking, for early-stage gallbladder cancer that is small and has not yet spread or metastasized, the most effective treatment is complete surgical removal of the cancer. After surgical resection, more than 60% of gallbladder cancer patients can achieve a 5-year survival rate. For some patients who receive postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy, chemotherapy or traditional Chinese medicine treatment, the recurrence and metastasis of gallbladder cancer can be effectively prevented, and a longer survival rate can be achieved.

The prognosis of patients with early gallbladder cancer is not only related to the treatment method, but also closely related to the overall condition and body function of the patient. Only when the general condition of the whole body is good, there are no other underlying diseases, the body function is good, and the immunity is strong, can the development of cancer be resisted and various drug treatments be tolerated. Therefore, while actively treating gallbladder cancer patients, they should also strengthen their diet and nutrition, eat more fresh vegetables, eggs, and steamed fish, avoid fried, deep-fried, and high-fat foods, and avoid eating red dates, longans, white fungus, and other supplements that are easy to cause abdominal distension. If necessary, you can also take some Chinese medicines that have the effect of tonifying the spleen and kidneys to improve the body's immune function.
