Life expectancy in late stage of prostate cancer

Life expectancy in late stage of prostate cancer

Prostate cancer often occurs in the posterior lobe of the prostate gland, grows slowly, and is latent. Early symptoms are not obvious. Once symptoms appear, they are usually in the late stage. The main symptoms of late-stage prostate cancer are lower urinary tract obstruction, or accompanied by hematuria and urinary retention. The most prominent symptom is pain. The following introduces the problem of life expectancy in the late stage of prostate cancer.

How long you can live in the late stage of prostate cancer depends on whether the treatment method is appropriate, whether the surgery is thorough, and whether the treatment measures are timely, which greatly affects how long you can live after prostate cancer surgery. The surgical treatment method of prostate cancer should be considered based on comprehensive factors such as the patient's age, systemic symptoms, stage of cancer, and immune status. Radical surgery is used for early treatment, with a 5-year survival rate of 75%, a 10-year survival rate of 55%, and a 15-year survival rate of 33%; most B1 stage tumors are well differentiated, but during surgery, 5% to 20% of patients have lymph node metastasis, so radical prostatectomy should be performed, and the 15-year cancer-free survival rate after radical prostatectomy is 50% to 50%; about half of the patients in B2 stage have tumors that have invaded the seminal vesicles, and 25% to 35% of cases have lymph node metastasis, so radical prostatectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection, orchiectomy, endocrine therapy, radiotherapy, and intra-tissue radiotherapy should be performed; the 15-year cancer-free survival rate after radical surgery in B2 stage is 25%.

How long a person can live with prostate cancer depends on the treatment effect and body function. As long as you choose the right method and actively treat it, you can improve symptoms and prolong your life. Patients with advanced prostate cancer should maintain an optimistic attitude and actively cooperate with treatment. With the continuous improvement of treatment methods, new treatment methods and drugs are increasingly used in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer. The survival of patients with advanced prostate cancer is significantly higher than before.
