Leukemia misdiagnosed as bone cancer

Since bone cancer and leukemia have similar clinical symptoms, some patients may worry that leukemia may be misdiagnosed as bone cancer. It is necessary for both patients and non-patients to know more about leukemia. Below, I will introduce the differences between leukemia and bone cancer and how to treat leukemia.

Leukemia is a malignant clonal disease of hematopoietic stem cells. The leukemia cells in its clones proliferate out of control, have differentiation disorders, and are blocked from apoptosis, stopping at different stages of cell development. In the bone marrow and other hematopoietic tissues, leukemia cells proliferate and accumulate in large numbers, and infiltrate other tissues and organs, while normal hematopoiesis is suppressed. According to a retrospective survey, the incidence of leukemia in various regions of my country ranks sixth among various tumors. Leukemia is the malignant proliferation of leukemia cells in hematopoietic organs such as the bone marrow, spleen, and liver. It can enter the blood circulation and infiltrate into various tissues and organs throughout the body. Clinically, there are varying degrees of anemia, bleeding, infection, fever, and enlarged liver, spleen, lymph nodes, and bone pain.

Bone cancer is bone tumor. Bone tumor is a tumor that occurs in bones or their appendages. There are benign and malignant types. Benign bone tumors are easy to cure and have a good prognosis, while malignant bone tumors develop rapidly, have a poor prognosis, and a high mortality rate. Malignant bone tumors are divided into primary and secondary types. Malignant tumors from other tissues or organs in the body that metastasize to the bones through the blood circulation and lymphatic system are secondary malignant bone tumors. There is also a type of lesion called tumor-like lesions. The tissue of tumor-like lesions does not have the characteristics of tumor cell morphology, but its ecology and behavior are destructive to tumors. They are generally more limited and easier to cure.

At present, Western medicine mainly uses chemotherapy to kill leukemia cells in clinical treatment of leukemia, but even with a large dose, it is impossible to completely kill bad cells, so the residual leukemia cells are the root cause of recurrence. To eliminate the residual leukemia cells, it mainly depends on improving the body's immunity and anti-leukemia treatment of traditional Chinese medicine.
