Can patients with colorectal cancer do fitness?

Proper exercise can also speed up blood circulation, improve immunity, and promote the excretion of toxins from the body as soon as possible. On the contrary, not exercising can easily lead to intestinal adhesions or intestinal obstruction, which is not conducive to recovery.

Some colorectal cancer patients give up exercise when they have a slight abdominal pain, fearing that it will affect wound healing. It is normal for colorectal cancer patients to feel pain when they move, and the pain will gradually disappear as the exercise continues. Therefore, after surgery, you should get out of bed and move around as soon as possible according to your own situation. Generally, patients who are discharged from the hospital three weeks ago can do exercises such as walking and sit-ups. Appropriate exercise can also speed up blood circulation, improve immunity, and promote the excretion of toxins from the body as soon as possible. On the contrary, not exercising can easily lead to symptoms such as intestinal adhesion or intestinal obstruction, which is not conducive to recovery.

The early postoperative diet of rectal cancer patients should be started under the guidance of medical staff. The nutrients in food can promote the repair of traumatic tissues, help wound healing and postoperative recovery of the body, shorten the course of treatment and replenish nutrients in time, which plays an important role in the recovery of rectal cancer surgery.

In addition to eating some high-nutrition and easily digestible soft foods, patients after rectal cancer surgery should follow the principle of dietary conditioning from less to more, from thin to thick, from simple to diverse, with a low-residue and non-irritating light diet as the main focus, and try to reduce the amount and frequency of fecal excretion in the early stage after surgery.

In addition, patients with ileostomy should pay attention to replenishing water and inorganic salts, because colon resection affects the reabsorption of water and inorganic salts, which can easily lead to water and electrolyte imbalance. Especially in hot weather and when sweating a lot, they should replenish water appropriately. Diet is very important during the recovery period after rectal cancer surgery. If the patient's stoma is in the abdomen, in order to reduce flatulence, reduce odor, and maintain smooth bowel movements, the patient should avoid certain foods.

First, avoid overeating;

Second, avoid smoking and drinking;

Third, avoid spicy foods such as chili peppers, buckwheat, pepper, curry, coffee, and Sichuan pepper. Eat low-residue, non-irritating foods, pay attention to the reasonable combination of dietary nutrition, and eat more fresh green leafy vegetables;

Fourth, avoid eating foods that cause frequent bowel movements and produce gas, such as dried beans, potatoes, onions, asparagus, cabbage, chocolate, and unripe fruits. These foods can produce a large amount of hydrogen sulfide, indole, and methane through the corruption and fermentation of intestinal bacteria, causing abdominal distension, frequent flatulence, and odor;

Avoid bicarbonate drinks, lemons, and beer. They produce more carbon dioxide and also cause more gas.

Sixth, avoid eating foods that easily produce strong odor, such as fish, onions, garlic sprouts, raw radishes, raw onions, raw garlic, etc., and try to avoid eating them.

In addition, after surgery, patients should get more sun exposure to promote the synthesis of vitamins in the body. If you don't get enough sun exposure, the vitamins your body takes in can't be synthesized, which can easily lead to complications such as bleeding, and even damage the body's coagulation system.
