For patients with ovarian cancer, the key to treatment is that we must first know what type of ovarian cancer it is and what method should be used for treatment. In this way, the treatment can achieve better results. Here are some common types of ovarian cancer. Germ cell tumor It accounts for 20% of ovarian tumors, and its incidence rate is second only to epithelial tumors. Germ cell tumors can be seen at any age, but are more common in young women. In children and adolescent women, 60% of ovarian tumors are of germ cell origin, and 1/3 of them are malignant. Specific sex cord-stromal cell tumor It accounts for about 5% to 10% of ovarian tumors. This type of tumor can secrete hormones and cause corresponding symptoms, and is also called functional ovarian tumor. Granulosa and theca cell tumors can secrete estrogen, which can cause precocious puberty in girls, menstrual disorders in reproductive age, and postmenopausal bleeding in elderly women. About 15% of them are accompanied by endometrial cancer. Testicular blastoma can secrete androgen, and patients show masculinization. Ovarian metastatic cancer The ovary is a common site of metastasis of malignant tumors. About 5% to 10% of ovarian tumors are metastatic. The most common are metastatic cancers from the digestive tract, breast, and reproductive tract. Metastatic cancer often invades both ovaries, and only 10% invades one ovary. Krukenberg tumor is a special type of metastatic adenocarcinoma with the primary site being the gastrointestinal tract. The tumor is bilateral, medium-sized, and generally maintains the original state of the ovary. Metastatic pathway: The main pathway is direct spread of the tumor to the surrounding organs and implantation metastasis of the greater omentum and the surface of various abdominal organs. Lymphatics are also an important metastatic pathway, initially metastasizing to the pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes, and in the late stage, the left supraclavicular lymph nodes may be involved. Hematogenous metastasis is rare. The characteristics of ovarian cancer metastasis are early and extensive spread. Tumors with limited appearance often have metastases to the peritoneum, greater omentum, retroperitoneal lymph nodes, diaphragm, etc. These are some of the relevant knowledge we have. Most people don't know where to start to treat ovarian cancer, so they can't get good results when they treat it. In fact, different types of ovarian cancer have different treatment methods. I hope these can help everyone. |
